Meet Kitty Cunningham- a woman who was born without a womb and who critics said could never have kids.
Despite all the odds against her, Kitty proved everyone wrong as she recently welcomed a healthy baby boy recently. Yes, the 32-year-old is delighted as ever and that’s because she’s finally a mom.
After hearing the devastating news at such a young age, Kitty couldn’t comprehend the situation at that time.
At 16, doctors diagnosed her with MRKH or Mayer Rokitansky Hauser Syndrome.
In this condition, patients suffer from underdeveloped or absent reproductive organs. This includes the internal vagina as well as the uterus.Kitty explains how she didn’t start her periods by 16 and it was worrying for doctors. On that occasion, they decided to investigate her matter further. And that’s when they found out that she didn’t have any womb.
“I was shocked, confused, and scared,’ she exclaims. The age of 16 is already so hormonal and to find out more devastating news like this truly scared the living daylights out of her. At the same time, the 32-year old says that she had to worry about not having a family at such a young age. And it was just torture.
Doctors informed Kitty how she would need to get a surrogate if she ever wanted to have kids. But Kitty confessed how she wasn’t sure about the whole ordeal and wondered ever if that day would actually come.
Kitty received immense support from her husband. He always told her how he was fine with having no babies, as long as she was by his side. As years went by, people always wondered and inquired why the couple didn’t plan on having kids. Moreover, it became a norm for Kitty to explain to others how she didn’t have a womb.
But thankfully, the couple met a potential surrogate one day. And just like that, things fell perfectly into place. Kitty’s eggs were fertilized with her husband’s sperm. Soon the embryo was implanted into the surrogate’s womb. And after 5 days, the couple received the good news of a positive pregnancy test.
Today, the couple are ecstatic and grateful to Jemma, the surrogate, for giving them the biggest blessing in the world.
