If you bet on sports, never post a photo of your winning ticket online!
In Australia, a woman named Chantelle shared a photo of herself with her winning ticket on Facebook, and moments later, someone used the barcode visible in the photo to claim her $825 prize.
According to Triple M report, Chantelle, from Perth, attended the famous Melbourne Cup horse race and placed a 100-to-1 bet on Prince Of Penzance. When the horse won the race, her ticket was worth $825.
Chantelle posted a selfie of herself with her winning ticket on Facebook to celebrate and share her lucky win.
Unfortunately, what Chantelle didn’t realize was that the barcode in the photo can be used at an automated machine to claim the prize, and that’s exactly what someone did after seeing the photo she posted.
“To the low life who is obviously my friend on Facebook and used my photo to claim our winnings. You’re a massive dick. You ruined my day,” Chantelle wrote in a follow-up post on her social media account.
Chantelle told Triple M that police authorities were able to track down where the money was claimed and believe that they will be able to track down the thief.
