In the Netherlands, a woman shockingly gave birth even if she had periods months prior.
Jessica Aaldering, 23, had just dropped her son off at school when she got agonizing pains in her stomach.
Jessica told 7News that she initially thought the pain was from a fall she had earlier, after slipping in the bad weather.
“It was slippery and I had fallen over a short while before so I assumed the pain was from that,” she said.
Luckily, police officers saw her writhing in pain and barely able to stand and rushed over to help. The officer guided her inside a nearby dental clinic.
Police officers Rob van Duuren, and Milan van der Heijden managed to bring Jessica inside, and within minutes she gave birth to a baby boy.
“It all happened so quickly, I barely had time to sit in the dentist chair,” Jessica said.
The 23-year-old was shocked to discover she was pregnant because she had no baby bump and had still been getting her period over the last few months.
Officer Van Duuren said the labor was so fast he barely had time to put gloves on to deliver the child, adding he was just able to ‘catch’ the baby.
During the quick delivery, the umbilical cord broke, and the officers noticed the baby wasn’t breathing and did not make any noise.
Officer Van Duuren started massaging the baby’s chest, minutes later, the baby took his first breath and started crying.
An ambulance showed up within minutes and brought Jessica and her newborn to a nearby hospital.
They found out that the baby —who was named Herman— had a collapsed lung after being born 10 weeks early, but is reported to be doing well after spending time in an incubator.
Jessica was later dumbfounded to receive a bill from the dental clinic.
De Gerderlander reported that the bill was sent for cleaning the room she gave birth in, as it was ‘heavily soiled’ and had to be disinfected by a specialist company,
The bill for €211.75 ($254.27) landed at Jessica’s doorstep.
“It is quite bizarre that they dare to send me an invoice for this at all,” Jessica angrily said. “At the time, the police walked in to ask if I could give birth at the dentist.”
“That was possible, but now I still have to pay a lot of money. I didn’t ask for this either, did I?”
Jessica claimed her insurance will not cover the cost, and the dentist reportedly said theirs wouldn’t pay either.
In the end, Jessica said that the police officers who helped her gave birth set up a fundraiser to cover the cleaning bill.
Jessica applauded them, adding they were her ‘lifesavers before, and they are now again’.
