Police in Upstate New York made a groundbreaking rescue recently after the mega snowstorm swept away a driver.
According to media sources, the 58-year-old driver was stranded in snow for 10 hours and even more. The incident took place as a snowstorm swept through the state, leading to numerous incidents and emergency calls.
58-year-old Keven Kresen was driving through Candor in New York when he met with a horrible accident. Located west of Binghamton, he ran his vehicle off of the road in Owega Town on Wednesday. The tragic incident occurred during the late hours, just as the massive storm passed through New York.
Here, New York State police explain how they received a massive number of complaints regarding how the storm continuously dumped heaps of snow. This added to the misery of local citizens who were present on the road. With zero visibility and dangers running high, they still managed to carry out a successful rescue operation.
Early Thursday morning, one Sargeant contacted Tioga’s County 911.
He wanted to check and make sure whether or not there were any pending emergency calls due to the massive storm. Therefore, that was the exact point in time where dispatchers informed how they received numerous 911 emergency calls.
And they were all from a man whose car ran off of the road.He needed assistance. However, dispatchers explained how local law enforcement officers still couldn’t figure out the driver’s exact location. More investigations into the matter showed how Mr. Cawley, the same Sargeant, drove towards the area. He saw how a long row of mailboxes lay on the ground.
Wading through the snow, he checked their addresses as confirmed by the statement released by the state patrol. Upon digging, he slammed Kresen’s windshield, discovering how Kresen sat inside his vehicle. And that’s when he told Cawley that a truck plowed him in.
Moreover, Kresen wasn’t in the best shape. He was totally stranded without any form of heat since his car’s serpentine belt broke down. For this reason, he suffered from frostbite as well as hypothermia, confirmed the state patrol police. On that note, he was rushed towards the hospital.
