Erwin had recently put up a shocking update of her status on Facebook where she called the demonstrators ‘terrorists’. Moreover, her friend supported her post toom expressing her great dismay over the incident.
For this reason, both officers came in the line of fire for their shocking behavior recently and were called out by New Jersey’s Hopewell Township.
Despite being in the police force for nearly 20 years, both officers displayed inappropriate language that strictly goes against the code of conduct of the department.point 259 |
Meanwhile, their lawyer mentioned recently how neither of the two officers has ever been called out for such offenses or behavior in the past.point 119 | They both have clear records and have never faced any form of disciplinary action.point 188 | 1
Both Erwin and Gray’s lawyers filed appeals against the recent decision, where they went on demanding their department of dismissing all the charges against them.
On Friday, Hopewell Township’s entire committee sat down and deliberated on the decision. And that’s when they came to the conclusion that Erwin would need to be terminated from the position while Mandy Gray would be penalized for displaying support for the offensive post.
Erwin’s lawyer argued how the punishment she received was excessively harsh and didn’t go in line with her behavior, being totally uncalled for and unjustified.
“I have always loved the police force like I love my family. Just last night, I left for work and I had my two kids crying. Still, I had no choice but to serve my duties. And then I watch this,” she explained in an emotional post as her aftermath.
