Britain’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, issued a new warning regarding the UK’s current Coronavirus status.
The prime minister revealed how the country is at a ‘perilous turning point.’ The rather shocking statement comes in light of the country’s recent worrying figures regarding positive cases.
At the same time, Mr. Johnson abandoned UK workers from returning back to work. His orders revolved around more people working from home. And that’s just the beginning of the rather strict measures to help contain the pandemic’s spread.
Similarly, the prime minister ordered citizens to make more use of face masks. This includes a new curfew upon public places like pubs and restaurants by 10 pm. Meanwhile, he also warned how these new restrictions could possibly last up to six months in total. And that means going well beyond Christmas.
On a lighter note, the prime minister did reiterate how such an outcome would only occur in certain cases. For instance, where the country didn’t make any fruitful progress.
On the other hand, strict measures entailed tougher enforcement rules for businesses too.
This includes hefty fines for those organizations that fail to cooperate with the government’s orders.
Some might even face closure for disobeying the law. As far as citizens who fail to wear face masks, they could ultimately face a fine of 200 Pounds. This all comes underneath the ‘rule of six.
’All of these new measures were set out at England’s House of Commons. However, Mr. Johnson did stress how every part of the United Kingdom stood united over the unanimous decision. After all, the country is working hard to control the virus before things get out of hand.
UK’s prime minister claims that although the country felt that the virus was in a retreat, the possibility of a second virus loomed. He explained, ‘I’m really sorry to say this but like Spain and France, we’ve also reached a perilous turning point.’
Despite the seriousness of the situation, the prime minister didn’t hint towards the possibility of a second lockdown. However, we will have to wait and watch for the events to unfold with time.
