Former US President Donald Trump mocked the Oscars saying that the huge drop in ratings was a result of Hollywood promoting the Democratic Party.
Trump also said that the name should revert to ‘Academy Awards’ which is classier rather than Oscars.
“What used to be called The Academy Awards, and now is called the “Oscars,” a far less important and elegant name, had the lowest Television Ratings in recorded history, even much lower than last year, which set another record low,” the ex-POTUS said in a statement released through his Save America PAC press list.
According to Nielsen, the 93rd Academy Awards garnered only 9.85 million viewers.
Deadline reported that a 58% drop in ratings was recorded this year compared to last year’s Oscars, which also had low ratings.
“Go back 15 years, look at the formula they then used, change the name back to THE ACADEMY AWARDS, don’t be so politically correct and boring, and do it right,” Trump said. “ALSO, BRING BACK A GREAT HOST.”
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hasn’t had a host since 2019.
“These television people spend all their time thinking about how to promote the Democrat Party, which is destroying our Country, and cancel Conservatives and Republicans,” Trump said. “That formula certainly hasn’t worked very well for The Academy!”
