Thai Government banned 190 websites, including Pornhub, last week.
People came out with immense backlash against the decision and registered their protest on different social media sites.
Puttipong Punnakanta, the Digital Minister of Thailand, said censorship is justified as access to gambling and porn websites is illegal under the country’s cybercrime law.
Hashtags #SavePornhub and #Hornypower were top trends on Twitter by the users offended by the decision. Pornhub ranks among the top 20 sites by daily traffic and is an internationally recognized sex industry. The public strongly criticizes the sudden ban on the site.
Pornhub claims that Thai citizens spent more time on Pornhub than the inhabitants of any other region of the world.
“Anonymous Party, “an activist group, came forward to start a campaign to reverse the decision. According to them, People are entitled to their choices, and the ban must be uplifted.
Many social activist groups gather outside the Digital Minister’s office, holding play cards that say “Unban Pornhub.”
Pornhub hub, when approached to comment on the situation, choose not to say anything.
People, however, used Virtual Private Networks (VPN) to access the sites that are banned by the government. A research report reveals an increase of 640% VPN users from Thailand after the Digital ministry imposed a ban on 190+ sites.
The public also raised the doubt that they’re not sure if the ban is meant to stop the compromise on Thai values or is against some royal images featured on the website.

“People can’t stand the digital dictatorship and are offended that why those conservative minds in power are trying to control what public can do and watch online.”, said the director of a digital rights foundation.
