The family of Ma’Khia Bryant is now planning to take legal action after the 16-year-old Black teen was fatally shot by cops in Ohio recently.
On Wednesday, April 21st, Ma’Khia Bryant was the center of a tragic shooting incident where cops had shot her four times. Bodycam footage of the chilling incident was released showing the minute-by-minute details that led up to the fatal act.
Cops arrived at the scene after a disturbance call was made to 911, which the family believes was conducted by Ma’Khia herself.
The call mentioned how the security of several people was at stake with mentions of one unidentified woman who also brought to attention a rift involving a knife.
Therefore, officers in Columbus, Ohio rushed to the scene immediately.That is when they found a group of girls standing outside a foster home which many believed to be the same residence that Ma’Khia was living under.
The 16-year-old black teen was fatally shot by an officer four times when she failed to comply with his demands of getting down on the ground.
Moreover, other speculating reports confirmed how she had a knife too which also fell to the ground beside her.
The presence of the sharp weapon was confirmed by bodycam footage released by the police chief recently.Ever since the incident, the officer has been removed from the streets and placed on a paid leave, confirmed by local media outlets.
Now, Ma’Khia’s own cousin mentioned in a recent interview with Insider how the family strongly believes that Ma’Khia’s foster system failed her completely.
The family also claims that the teen made the disturbance call to 911 because she knew that she didn’t want to go near a weapon unless she thought her life was in danger.
Therefore, Ma’Khia’s mum is now in talks with a lawyer as the family plans on moving forward with swift legal action.
