Law enforcement in Switzerland is looking for a forgetful person who left something very valuable on a train, a parcel full of gold bars worth more than $190,000!
According to authorities, the package containing the gold bars was found inside the carriage of a Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) train which traveled from the northeastern Swiss town of St Gallen to Lucerne, a city in the center of the country of Switzerland, in October last year.
In a statement published in the local government Lucerne Canton gazette, the owner of the precious cargo had not been tracked down regardless of the “extensive investigations” that took place.
After the authorities failed to track down the owner of the high-value package, the gold bars, that’s worth 182,000 Swiss francs or $191,000, were confiscated by the public prosecutor’s office.
And now, officials have decided to announce their search to find the bounty’s mysterious owner.
In a bulletin dated June 2, the authorities said that the mystery owner has five years to make a claim for the golden treasure.
In a CNN report, a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office said that several inquiries had been made about the gold and were being checked. No details about the nature of the inquiries were given.
