A mother is going viral after claiming she became a granny at the age of just 36.
38-year-old Nikki Sullivan says she works for the social services, alongside her duties of being a personal trainer too. Hailing from Croydon in South London, she explains how her daughter became pregnant when she was just 17 years old.
Opening up for the first time in a recent interview, the 38-year-old granny mentioned the great struggles that her 17-year-old had to deal with while being pregnant. “Looking at the positive pregnancy test was horrifying. I felt devastated. Clearly, it was not the right time for my daughter Kira to be pregnant,” she explains. But in situations like these, the mom says she felt helpless.
“I became a teen mum myself and that was the last thing I had wished upon my daughter. I clearly didn’t want the same thing for her at all,” she added.
“It was like history was repeating itself and now, the sheer reality of the matter had to do with the fact that I was going to be a grandmother soon.”
The young granny says that although on the inside she was heartbroken, on the outside, she knew it was time to support her daughter through this testing period. “I went and wrapped my hands around my daughter Kira, smiled at her, and promised her that I would be there by her side,”
The granny says that her daughter was born in the year 2000 and she had been with her daughter’s dad since the age of 15. Their pregnancy was not planned but she was very content with the circumstances.
But soon afterward, bitter reality struck when her husband left her when Kira was only one year old. Therefore, she simply had no choice but to raise herself alone.
When Kira was 14, she started dating a boy named Hassan who was the same age as her and they were both very open about sex and how difficult it is to be a young mum. But little did she know that Kira would actually get pregnant so soon. The granny says that she didn’t force for a termination despite knowing how hard this would be.
While Kira’s boyfriend stepped up to the plate with his responsibilities, being a young granny really hit hard. Moreover, when people hear the name nanny at parks and see that it’s her, they get confused as to what is going on.
