The harrowing incident took place on June 25th at North Leclaire Avenue, South Austin, Chicago where a young teenager was showing her mother her new dance moves in her apartment when a stray bullet struck her neck.
The bullet hit TV and dancing Amaria Jonas’s neck, who had recently learnt new dance moves from Tiktok leaving her badly injured in the pool of blood gushing from her wounded neck.
Lawanda Jonas, the mother of a young girl, recalls the dreadful moments from the incident when she said her daughter approached her holding a hand on her neck with a blood storm surging from it.
Amaria was taken to the hospital immediately where she was declared dead only 30-minutes later.
Meanwhile the firing did not only struck Amaria but the two boys sitting outside her apartment were also hit. One boy, 15, was shot in his left leg and the other had his lower back wounded from the bullet, both, however, were rushed to the hospital and now are out of critical situations.
The Father’s day weekend of 2020 was turned into bloodshed in Chicago as the whole city complained of firings from Friday to Monday. One hundred people were hit and injured out of whom 14 fatally died including a young boy.
A three year old baby named Mekhi was riding with his stepfather driving the car when a gun fire was opened at their car killing the little Mekhi. According to the police, the people responsible for shooting at them were targeting Mekhi’s 27-year old father but he has not given any statement so far.
Lawanda Jones had seen her nephew dying from gun violence just one year ago. She has called the murderers of Amaria to come forward and claim their due responsibility. Amaria was the youngest of her siblings with ambitions to become an attorney when she grew up as she was a talker. She has left her entire family grieving.
