Stormtroopers are now guarding Disney World Orlando and are making sure social distancing is being observed by visitors, as the theme park’s shopping center reopened last May 20.
While everyone who enters the premises is required to wear face masks, Stormtroopers are emphasizing the critical need for distancing by reminding them of male banthas—Star Wars’ large creatures that span about 3.9 meters long.
“Keep moving!” they instruct the guests, aided by their favorable vantage point at the balconies of the Ever After Jewelry Co. & Accessories and Kiehl’s stores.
Another Stormtrooper even joked about the visitors’ “nice face coverings.” The fascinating scenario was captured in a video by Attractions Magazine.
Aside from this distancing protocol, park-goers are also assured of numerous hand-washing areas around the resort. Everyone, including employees, will be asked to have their temperatures checked too.
Upon getting approval from the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force in Florida, Disney will start the ‘phased opening’ of the resort on July 11.
The first area of the park that was allowed to open was the shopping center, Disney Springs.
It will be followed by the Magic Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom on July 11 and by Epcot and Hollywood Studios on July 15. However, they also said in their proposal that they will have ‘significantly limited’ operations. The place has been closed since March 15.
