South Dakota’s Governor, Kristi Noem has sued the Biden administration after they reportedly canceled the Independence Day fireworks that were supposed to be held at Mount Rushmore.
According to media reports, the National Parks Service had notified the state of the adminstration’s decision regarding the cancelation of the fireworks display in the month of March. But that decision didn’t go down too well with the state’s authorities who thoroughly disapproved.
For this reason, South Dakota’s governor claims she has no other option but to sue the administration on Friday, demanding the court of law to issue a permit that enables the state to carry on with the celebrations as planned.
Noem who is a Republican claim she filed the lawsuit in the District Court of the US for the state’s Central Division.
In her defense, she went on to add how Mount Rushmore is an iconic destination and the very best place to celebrate America’s birthday as well as all of those things that make this nation so special.point 388 |
In addition, she went on accusing the Biden administration of failing to circle back, despite promising her that they would take another glance at the situation later.point 141 | 1
“They have departed from their longstanding precedent,” Noem went on to add. She also spoke about how the administration failed to give any form of explanation for their behavior too. For this reason, she is requesting the court to step in and issue a new permit that allows the event to take place successfully.
Just last year, the state was able to host the fireworks successfully, which marked the first time since the year 2009.point 212 |
