On Tuesday, Valentina Saprunova, aged 40, walked into her apartment in Rybinsk, Russia, and found her daughters Yana and Elena, aged 13 and 8, ‘literally shredded by a knife’.
Her boyfriend, Vitaly Molchanov, aged 41, was nowhere in sight.
As it turns out, Molchanov is a convicted child rapist and murderer, having served a long sentence for both crimes before his release in 2010. Having met Molchanov in April, Saprunova was unaware of this fact.
Molchanov was last seen by a neighbor, fleeing on a white bicycle. Currently, Russian police have launched an extensive search party, trying to track him down.
Saprunova is a divorcee from Omsk, in the region of Siberia. She worked as a nurse while living with her two daughters. She met Molchanov through a dating app around six months ago. The mother moved into Molchanov’s flat in Rybinsk with her daughters around a month ago.
Saprunova got another job at a local Rybinsk hospital, near the Yaroslavl region. However, Molchanov’s relationship with Saprunova was always erratic. He wrote in a social media post: “This is my girlfriend, this is very sad that we are in different cities, but I love her and we can solve all the other issues.”
However, sources report that Molchanov exhibited a lot of angry and jealous behavior when Saprunova returned late from work. Her profession as a nurse required 24-hour shifts at a time. Consequently, Molchanov would become emotionally and verbally abusive.
A neighbor reported, “This woman came to look for happiness in Rybinsk. I feel so sorry for her and the girls. He is a beast. He must be destroyed immediately.”
According to REN TV, “Perhaps this tragedy would not have happened if Valentina, before going to live with this man with whom she had only talked on the Internet, knew an important thing: he had already served a sentence for … the rape and murder of a child. But Vitaly hid it from her.”
It’s evident that Malchanov is highly manipulative and dangerous. He lied, coerced, and exploited Saprunova, and brutally murdered her two innocent daughters.
