Sisters are now facing investigation over the death of their father, after he allegedly subjected his daughters to years of physical and sexual abuse.
In 2018, 57-year-old Mikhail Khachaturyan was stabbed and killed by his daughters Krestina, Angelina and Maria as an act of self-defense.
However, Mikhail’s relatives accused the three of lying about the abuse to avoid jail time, and claimed that they killed their father over his money and property.
The Russian court has ordered the prosecutors to examine the Krestina and Angelina, who were 19 and 18 at the time of their father’s murder.
Should the two be found guilty of their relative’s claims, they may possibly face 20 years in jail.
The youngest of the three, Maria, has been told she will not face the charge after the judge ruled her temporarily insane at the moment her two elder sisters committed the crime.
Mikhail, who is known as a notorious mafia boss, was stabbed through the heart with his own hunting knife as he slept, and was beaten in the head with the hammer.
Krestina and Angelina confessed to have committed the crime, while Maria claimed she did not participate but was present during the attack.
“The court has granted the plaintiffs’ request to return the case to the prosecutor’s office until there is a final decision on a criminal case against Mikhail Khachaturyan,” said Alexey Lipster, a lawyer representing the sisters.
Prior investigation found that the sisters had faced “physical and mental suffering…over a long period of time.”
Authorities had also uncovered evidence that Mikhail threatened one of his daughter, to whom he said: “You will take the place of your mother.”
“I will marry you and you will give birth to my baby.”
“He ordered them to get undressed in front of him, saying that he wanted to ‘check’ them,” the authorities said.
“Then ordered them to perform a sex act on him, saying that he had problems with his prostate and it would be a cure.”
