Conservatives who suggested that the cops were justified for killing 13-year-old Adam Toledo were recently slammed.
The news comes as bodycam footage revealed how the young 7th grader was unarmed when he was told to put his hands in the air by the officer. And when he turned around to face the cops, they shot him straight in the chest, killing him in an instant, confirmed reports.
Toledo was shot in the state of Chicago last month when reports surfaced regarding the sounds of gunshots in the vicinity of Little Village.
Morover, the bodycam footage that was released on Thursday showed how the cop fired a single bullet straight into the 13-year-old’s chest, just a few seconds after he was told to turn around and face the officers. He was clearly unarmed and had his hands up in the air the whole time, the footage revealed.
Right ahead of the release, one conservative pundit by the name of Eric Zorn wrote a column recently in the Chicago Tribune which came with the title ‘Let’s wait before turning the slain Adam Toledo Into A Martyr.’
Here, Zorn talked about how the general public may be justified in calling Toledo a martyr whose shooters need to be persecuted. However, he did go on to add how a thorough review was needed for the action as some may find that the cops were totally justified in their act of self-defense.
In addition, Zorn spoke about how readers need to stop the act of romanticizing as well as infantilizing 13-year-olds too.
However, once the bodycam footage came out, many people were angered beyond belief at how the cops brutally killed the 13-year-old, despite the fact that he was unarmed.point 361 |
Despite this, some conservatives went on to put up bodycam footage screenshots that showed how Toledo was holding some kind of object, although it’s still not clear what that is.point 155 | 1
But critics slammed the conservatives on how the teen did not have that object in his hand when he turned around to the officers and surrendered. Still, he was shot and there is certainly no form of justification for that behavior.
