In a home CCTV video shown in court, the young boy went upstairs and found the teenager curled up on the bed with bloodstains. She then told him that she was just having a nose bleed.

After that, the boy went downstairs, while the girl went to the kitchen. A few minutes later, he heard a crying baby and followed her.

The boy saw two tiny feet and legs slipping out of a bundle of clothing but the girl insisted that it was just a doll. Shortly, he heard the teenager opening the back door and left the house.

Coroner Andrew Cousins said that the 15-year-old told him that she cannot remember if she covered the newborn’s face with a plastic bag when she wrapped him up.

The girl explained to the court that she thought the baby was dead because he was not moving or crying.

LancashireLive reported that the postmortem examination was unable to confirm the real cause of the infant’s death, but it was noted that the placenta was small.

“Baby Oliver died as a result of natural causes and plastic bag asphyxiation,” Coroner Cousins said. “He was born in a poor condition and his health was deteriorating.”

“Sometime after 1 pm he was placed into a plastic bag and placed in a wheelie bin,” he added. “On the balance of probability, Oliver was alive when he was placed in the plastic bag but exhibiting minimal signs of life.”
