A young schoolgirl experienced the shock of her lifetime after she went into labor during her math exam recently.
According to media reports, the 13-year-old gave birth to a healthy baby boy, right in the midst of her mathematics examination. Moreover, the incident took place at the St Balikuddembe Primary School, which is located in the Mpigi district in Uganda, mentioned the country’s authorities.
The headteacher of the school confirmed the news, stated to local media outlets how the girl went into an immediate episode of labor during her math test, which took place on Wednesday, March 31. Not only was the girl taken by surprise, so were her teachers, fellow classmates, and teachers too.
After her labor pains started during the middle of her exam, the student quickly alerted her exam’s invigilator, after a span of 20 minutes. Therefore, on that note, the invigilator quickly called in colleagues who rushed the young girl towards the nearest medical center, explained the headmaster of the school.
After disappearing for about an hour, it was jaw-dropping to note how the student returned back to her desk.
Hence, she was given an extra 45 minutes to finish her exam, which she did thoroughly and without any hesitation and complaints. Right after her exam, she received permission to go back to the clinic and attend to her baby’s needs, mentioned local media outlets. But again, she did return to complete her social studies exam, which was scheduled on the same day, in the afternoon.
One nurse at the clinic where the baby was delivered mentioned how the student had a very normal delivery with no complications, whatsoever. The baby was healthy and now, both the mother and her baby boy are doing well.
“She was very lucky that she didn’t have to go through any complications,” mentioned the nurse.
Meanwhile, the girl’s parents mentioned how she got pregnant after being lured into having sex during the lockdown. That was when she couldn’t physically attend class due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic last year.
