A school bus driver sent 98 children flying forward after he allegedly slammed the brake pedal, leaving 12 children injured.
63-year-old Roger Wells was accused for reacting with anger when the students kept pressing the stop bell as they are about to go home on an overloaded double-decker.
According to the students, Wells yelled “F***ing stop ringing that bell” before driving “faster than usual”, and then suddenly stopping in Wallcrouch, near Wadhurst, East Sussex.
The pole on the lower deck of the bus was found completely ripped out and had hit a 14-year-old boy, while another boy was flung into the windscreen with such force it cracked.
In a court hearing, the children said that the bus stopped so quickly that they thought they would fly through the windshield if they let go of a pole.
Wells then stepped over the children lying down to replace the pole before driving back to Uplands Community College.
He had since been suspended by Hams Travel, but continues to deny the accusations that he drove without due care and attention.
He also denies another charge against him, where he is accused of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
