Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson and Saturday Night Live writer and comedian Colin Jost tied the knot in an intimate ceremony over the weekend.
The couple broke the news on Instagram via Meals On Wheels America, which wrote that the wedding took place with their “immediate family and loved ones”, and followed “COVID-19 safety precautions as directed by the CDC.”
“Their wedding wish is to help make a difference for vulnerable older adults during this difficult time by supporting @mealsonwheelsamerica,” the organization captioned in a photo of the Staten Island Ferry, with added wedding cans on the ship’s rear.
The pair first met on the set of SNL when Johansson returned as a host and Jost was just a junior writer, and they collaborated perfectly on a parody of MTV’s “My Super Sweet Sixteen.”
“I remember her being beautiful, smart, sweet, and intimidatingly sophisticated,” wrote Jost on his memoir, as he described his first impression on his future wife.
“And she had a grace and a smile that I’ve still never seen in any other human.”
The couple met again when the Black Widow star returned to SNL to host once again, a meeting that would spark a romance between them.
They kept their relationship private until November 2017, and got engaged in May 2019 when Jost popped the question with an 11-carat diamond ring, in which Johansson described that Jost “killed it” in his proposal.
“He’s very charming and very thoughtful and romantic. But yeah, I was surprised,” the actress said.
“Even if you kind of imagine what that moment’s gonna be like, it’s still a beautiful moment … I think more than anything, when someone tells you they want to share the rest of their life with you, it’s a lovely, special thing.”
Johansson has been married twice before — to actor Ryan Reynolds and to French businessman Romain Dauriac, while this is Jost’s first marriage.
