56-year-old comedian Ricky Gervais was spotted making several outspoken statements on Christian O’Connell’s show.
Speaking to the host in Australia, Ricky stated how he felt celebrities should not be allowed to participate in the upcoming New Year’s Honours List. At the same time, Ricky expressed his gratitude for all NHS heroes as well as frontline workers. He further went on to state how their exemplary bravery and determination to risk their own lives for the sake of humanity during the Coronavirus pandemic should be rewarded.
In another bold statement, Ricky went on to say, ‘I never want anyone to complain about the NHS again, or nurses or doctors or anyone on the front line.’
Ricky made a direct verbal attack on celebrities, saying how he felt that the Honors List should not include them and instead should go to all the hardworking heroes involved in saving lives.
The comedian also headed with a direct aim towards fashion designers and style gurus, stating how he felt they were unworthy of any esteemed honors. Adding humor to the serious conversation, Ricky quoted, ‘Give it to someone who gave a kidney to a stranger, not someone who invented a new type of mascara.’
And it didn’t end there. Ricky’s next swipe was towards reality stars, where he claimed them to be desperately seeking fame. Terming it to be on the verge of mental illness, Ricky went on to say that reality stars’ prime goal was related to making themselves happy.
Gervais has always adopted a critical stance about celebrities who are complaining from their huge houses in the pandemic’s lockdown. In particular, his public ridicule towards 27-year-old singer Sam Smith caused a stir.
Sam Smith was spotted breaking down into tears in a video posted on social media, due to isolation. The video was recorded from his giant multi-million dollar mansion.
These comments come days after speculations of Gervais being offered a whopping 5 million pounds for writing a third sequel to the hit series After Life.
