According to media reports, she finally addressed the aggravating situation on the Mexican border with some harsh terms. Moreover, she accused anyone who referred to the crisis with ‘surge’ as a follower of White Supremacy. “Those who call it a surge are pushing the white supremacist philosophy,” she added.

Time after time, AOC has been accused of covering up the dangerous situation at migrant centers where overcrowded conditions have experts issuing grave warnings, especially the detention centers. Previously, she was called out for calling them concentration camps, under Trump’s administration. But now, it appears that she has taken a back seat regarding the growing situation.

At first, AOC appeared very outraged when many followers questioned her during an Instagram Live ‘ask-me-anything session where it was of many people’s concern as to why she failed to address the issue that prevailed heavily on the nation.

“Why aren’t you talking about the ongoing migrant crisis on the border or the kids in cages like you used to speak about them before,” people questioned. On that note, after taking a slight pause, AOC asked, “Are you for real?”

“It is certainly not a border crisis. It is a climate crisis, an imperialism crisis, a trade crisis, and a carceral crisis too,” she added. In addition, AOC said, “But many people simply don’t want to have that particular conversation. They just want to mention about the surge.”

“First of all, stop. If there is anyone that uses the term surge around you, know for sure that they are doing their level best at invoking you towards a militaristic frame,” she exclaimed boldly.

AOC spoke about how the problem lies just there. “This is clearly not a surge. These are kids and they are not insurgents and we are certainly not being invaded,” she explained.
