According to media reports, all the refugees who were recently approved to enter the country are now being removed from their flights. The news was confirmed by resettlement agencies that work directly alongside refugees.

Recently, news broke out about how President Biden favored all those who wished to enter the country but couldn’t under Donald Trump’s stringent policies. And that was when he pledged to increase the total number of refugees admitted into the country, after so many years of lows.

But just 3 weeks after making the breakthrough announcement, it appears that the president may have forgotten his promises as he is yet to sign the mega agreement. Therefore, it’s still not official and that means all those refugees situated abroad are in absolute chaotic limbo.

Just last week, around 60 refugees were unbooked from US flights whereas this week, around 200 people were left in the dark after being removed and their journeys postponed.

In one particular case, a Congolese family of 5 people was set to depart their nation of Uganda, right after war and violence broke out in Congo. Moreover, the tragic news of their flight being canceled meant that they had no other option but to stay back.

“We did not expect any of this, And it’s really hard and puzzling to understand why it’s actually happening in the first place,” they exclaimed.

The executive director for the Refugee Council of the US mentioned in a statement how each day that passes by without Biden’s signature set the stage for another day of hundreds of vulnerable refugees being forced to wait for their resettlement.

While Biden’s proposal increased the numbers included in the cap for refugees, which tells how many refugees will be admitted into the nation, it also modified the category of who would be permitted entry.

However, currently, many remain in absolute limbo as to when the president will actually sign the executive order, giving them access into the American nation.
