Her Majesty, The Queen, has announced the death of her husband Prince Philip, who passed away recently at the age of 99.
The Queen made the tragic announcement by mentioning, ‘with deep sorrow’ how her husband, The Duke of Edinburgh has died at 99. Moreover, she referred to him as her strength and guide throughout their long marriage, which comprised of 73 years. This was during her long 69-year reign.
According to British local reports, the Duke of Edinburgh spent his last days at the Windsor Castle, alongside his wife. This was right after he spent a long 28-day stay at the hospital, after being admitted in the middle of February. Reports confirmed how he was treated for an infection and another pre-existing condition of the heart.
The death came as a tragic shock to many people around the world who follow the Royals with great devotion. A formal statement was released by Buckingham Palace which mentioned, “It is with deep regret that the Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, his royal highness, Prince Philip.”
