Trump is planning to forgive Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
Michael Flynn was accused of lying to the FBI about dealing with the ambassador of Russia. Flynn was pleaded guilty twice for this crime and has yet to be sentenced. The floating rumors on the internet suggest that Trump intends to forgive everyone, including Flynn, before leaving the White House. We are not yet sure about this as Trump can change his mind anytime. If these rumors turn true, this will become the highest-profile pardon by Trump in his four-year presidency.
Michael Flynn is a retired Army lieutenant general who admitted lying about the conversation he had with the Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. He defended himself in court, saying he didn’t lie intentionally.
This is not the first time Trump uses his pardon power to help the victims of ‘out of control justice system.
’ In March 2020, he said that the FBI had destroyed Flynn and his family’s whole life, and he is considering a full pardon for Flynn. After Flynn was disgraced in April, Trump posted a message on Twitter that reads, “Such a sad thing to happen! This is not how you treat your war heroes.
Flynn will no more be allowed to call himself as the citizen of the US. ”The request to dismiss the criminal case against Flynn has become a major legal battle in court and on social media.
“This should not happen; it will speak ill of America’s democracy.
This indicates how Trump protects and helps those who lie on his behalf. He will reward you if you cover up for him,” said Congressman Adam Schiff.“What will the world think? We have a President that supports criminals,” wrote another.
After continuous claims by Trump of mistreating Flynn, Attorney General William Barr ordered to drop the case. Barr faced immense criticism as people were frustrated by the freakish protocol given to Trump’s allies.
