Heavily Pregnant Woman With Twins Gets COVID-19, Fights For Life On Ventilator


An emotional husband in Australia is going public with his urge to convince others about the dangers of COVID-19, as his pregnant wife fights for life in the hospital.

According to reports, Australia’s health experts are issuing warnings that more people are likely to die from contracting the virus.

Despite taking all preventive measures, the woman, identified as Ms. Dyke, caught COVID-19, alongside her husband, Chris Lassig. However, her husband fully recovered within the standard 14 days, while she wasn’t that lucky.

Last Saturday, Mr. Lassig shared harrowing footage of his heavily pregnant wife. The video showcased her struggling to breathe, moments before she was taken to the hospital through an ambulance.

The hospital staff immediately placed her on oxygen, after which she was transferred to the intensive care unit. Today, eight days have passed and she continues to struggle for her life, sedated in the ICU.

Reports suggest that she is one of the 28 Victorians that continue to battle the dangerous virus, while admitted to the intensive care unit. Furthermore, statistics proved shocking figures of 130 more COVID-19 positive Victorians in the hospital while the state announced 363 more cases as well as three deaths.

This is Victoria’s second outbreak against the disease which has picked up momentum for a month. Currently, 110 nursing home residents have contracted COVID-19 with experts fearing that around 40 will die of the virus’s complications.

The Federal Minister for Aged Care, Richard Colbeck, announced to a local newspaper that current statistics proved how Victoria’s death rate would soon soar to new heights.

 He claimed:

If you look at this nationally, the mortality rate for the elderly is about 37%, so 35 to 40 out of 100 who have the virus won’t survive.’

On the other hand, Ms. Dyke, who is carrying twins, was reported as making ‘slow progress.’ However, she is starting to breathe on her own, while the ventilator acts as a quintessential backup.

Medics were proud to announce that all of her improvements are promising.

Mr. Lassig shared a heartfelt moment with the public, showcasing an ultrasound picture that featured the couple’s unborn children. In the image, one of their twins appeared as if it was kicking Ms. Dyke. The picture was captioned as:
