Melbourne experienced a rather gruesome ordeal when five policemen surrounded two elderly women at a park.
Suddenly, the cops threatened to arrest them, without mentioning any particular reason. And that’s when one of the policemen aggressively snatched an elderly’s phone.
The incident took place when the women questioned their arrest. On that occasion, one of them took out their cell phones and tried filming the incident. At that very moment, the policemen come and violently grabs her phone. And that leaves her shaken to the core.
According to police reports, the women refused to show their identification. And that’s why the police threatened their arrest. So how did the incident come across others? Well, it’s all thanks to the efforts of one bystander who filmed the rather heavy confrontation.
In the video’s footage, you can clearly see how the woman refuses to cooperate with the officer. She simply denies standing up. Soon, you hear a loud voice yelling, ‘No I’m not standing up. On what Grounds am I under arrest? This is absolutely unlawful.’
Again, the woman asks in a stern tone, ‘Why am I getting arrested?’ And that’s when her friend pulls out her cellphone to record the incident.
Soon, a male officer comes into the picture from behind and violently snatches the phone.
On that note, you can further hear the elderly woman yelling: ‘Excuse me, you simply have no right to seize any of my property. ’Meanwhile, Victorian Police still haven’t confirmed whether or not the woman got arrested. However, they did provide a public statement regarding the ordeals.
‘Generally speaking, it’s a big offense if you don’t provide your details to the police, such as your name and other personal relevance.’ Furthermore, they explained how the matter gets aggravated in those cases where police believe you’ve committed an offense or will commit one in the near future.
The also went on to reveal that the police have every right to confiscate any citizen’s private property, when necessary, during an arrest.
