A couple is delighted to welcome twins who were born two years apart into their family.
James and Karen Marks from Taunton, England, are thrilled to have become parents of two IVF twins who were born two years apart even though they were conceived at the same time.
As the couple revealed, baby Cameron and Isabella were conceived from the same batch of embryos back in 2017.
A year later, on September 1, Karen gave birth to baby Cameron, whereas his twin sister remained in the state of a frozen embryo for more than a year before the parents decided to expand their family further.
On September 15, 2020, Karen gave birth to Cameron’s twin sister, baby Isabella.
“We are delighted to have a boy and a girl, although any healthy baby would have been wonderful for us. It means the world to us,” the mother expressed.
“Some days I think after all the years of trying that I must be dreaming, this can’t be my reality that not only do I have one beautiful baby, but two. We have our wonderful son, but I’ve never wanted him to be an only child.”
As Karen went on to say, Cameron is now a “super proud big brother” who loves cuddling with his little sister.
Following two successful IVF pregnancies, the couple is hoping to give birth to more children as they still have two frozen embryos at the Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine.
“Hopefully we will have more children. I’ve always wanted four,” the proud mom admitted.
“We had five embryos made up. We’ve lost one – I miscarried one last year. We’ve got twins. I will try and have the other two so they could be quadruplets.
“It feels pretty crazy to have twins born two years apart. It’s weird – lots of people have said they didn’t realize they were twins. It’s bonkers.”
