The 2020 Academy Awards is on a hot seat once again when fans noticed their apparent snub of Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce in its most awaited ‘In Memoriam’ section.

Like in the previous years, last night’s ceremony took time to honor many of Hollywood’s fallen talents and personalities who passed away during the past year, including recent losses Kirk Douglas and Kobe Bryant.

Rip Torn, Barbara Hammer, Steve Golin, Diahann Carroll, Agnes Varda, Seymour Cassel, and Doris Day were all among those people who were paid tribute to in the In Memoriam section.

As the tribute ended, Fans of Perry posted on social media to express their resentment at the Oscars’ decision not to include the actor in their tribute.

One person wrote:

‘Luke Perry wasn’t in the In Memorial?? He was literally in one of the most nominated films of the night!! Disrespectful!!’

While another one simply stated:

‘How the f*k is Luke Perry not in the In Memorium segment?’

Another one posted:

‘Wait a minute? Let me see if I’m understanding this…the Oscars had a memoriam and somehow Luke Perry was excluded despite that he’s in one of the nominated films?!’

Perry died March last year at the age of 52. He was brought to the hospital after suffering from a stroke and died five days later. Leaving him out was especially egregious considering that Perry made a cameo in one of the year’s Best Picture contenders, “Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood.”

Perry wasn’t the only actor snubbed from this year’s “In Memoriam”.  Also, nowhere to be found from the tribute segment was Disney star Cameron Boyce, who passed away in July 2019 at the age of 20 after suffering from an epileptic seizure.

Boyce was popularly known for his work in Disney’s The Descendants and its sequels, and his other shows include Grown Ups and its sequel, together with Adam Sandler among many other projects.

Skai Jackson, who worked alongside Boyce in the Disney Channel show Jessie, took to Twitter to express her disgust over the fact that the actor wasn’t mentioned, writing:

The ‘In Memoriam’ section was a beautiful segment otherwise, accompanied by a strong performance of Paul McCartney’s “Yesterday” from record-breaking Grammy winner Billie Eilish and her brother/producer Finneas.

Some of the personalities not mentioned in the tribute include horror legend Sid Haig, who passed away at the age of 80 in September, The Carol Burnett Show star Tim Conway, who died last May at the age of 85, Oscar-nominated actor Michael J Pollard, who died in November at the age of 80, and Airwolf‘s Jan-Michael Vincent, who passed away in February at the age of 74.point 424 | 1

On the other hand, all of these actors mentioned including Perry and Boyce were included in an ‘In Memoriam’ gallery on the Academy’s website.

Rest in peace.
