A woman termed to be America’s oldest person celebrated her 116th birthday on the weekend.
Hester Ford is a resident from North Carolina and she indulged in her celebrations with a drive-thru styled theme.
Moreover, Hester is a mother of 12 and is believed to the oldest woman alive in the United States. At the same time, she joins a selective club of individuals that belong to the 110 age group or more.
With a total of 48 grandchildren by her side, she heads a giant family. And that rounds up to 200 great-grandchildren as the grand total.
But how does one celebrate at this age? Well, you can leave it up to Hester to kickstart her big day with a drive-thru themed event. And that means having her close family members nearby on Thursday. However, the actual birthday fell on Saturday.
Hester was originally in South Carolina, right before World War I in the year 1904. Meanwhile, the mother of 12 is actually a celebrity in Charlotte, having lived in the locality for more than 59 years.
Charlotte’s mayor, Vi Lyles, granted August 15th as ‘Mother Hester Ford Day’ in her honor. That just goes to show how famous she is in the area.
Furthermore, this mother of 12 says she’s also confused about how she managed to live for so long. Similarly, she was awarded the title of US oldest resident. Previously, Alelia Murphy held this honor. She died at the age of 115, last year.
Alelia is famous for revealing her health tips for long life success. She used to eat one banana every single day for breakfast. At the same time, she never required any medical treatment until the year 2008.
With a total of 12 children and 48 grandchildren under her belt, Hester is the matriarch for a large family indeed. Let’s not forget her massive great-grandchildren following that total to around 200 individuals, amongst all of her living relatives.
