The former veteran police officer who shot and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright has been arrested and will face manslaughter charges.
Just recently, authorities made the breakthrough announcement after the veteran cop stepped down and resigned from the Minnesota police department yesterday, followed by the police chief who made the same decision of resigning. The decision wasn’t a major surprise for many as an immense amount of pressure surrounded the case with many demanding the firing of the cop.
Reports confirmed how Kim Porter was seen on bodycam footage where she shoots and kills the 20-year-old during a traffic stop, located in Brooklyn Center in Minnesota. As you can probably imagine, the incident sparked great outrage and protests by the community, leading to an immense amount of unrest across the board.
Potter, the 26-year Veteran cop of Brooklyn Center’s Police Department will now be charged on account of second degree of manslaughter, which was in connection to Daunte Wright’s death, mentioned Washington County’s Attorney Pete Orput.
Moreover, he also revealed how the charge carries a maximum sentence of around 10 years of imprisonment as reported by the Associated Press recently.
Potter was arrested during the early hours of Wednesday by the state’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, where she was expected to get booked into Hennepin County’s jail.point 402 |
