Thursday Night, a day before Christmas eve, a cop was shot in Brooklyn while answering the call of a woman in danger.
The incident took place on December 24, 9 pm at Ralph Avenue, Bergen Street. The officer said that he received a call from a female victim of domestic abuse who was in trouble, and her boyfriend was threatening to kill her. The victim’s terrified mother said that her daughter’s boyfriend is coming to their place and intends to shoot them.
NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea told the media that the suspect opened fire on the cops when he reached the victim’s house. The shot could’ve proved fatal if the cop hadn’t worn the protective vest. The woman told police that her boyfriend is on his way to her home and is carrying a weapon. Police reached the place before the suspect, and the officers were talking to the victim when he came in, shot the cop, and fled the scene.
The cops chased the suspect, William Moss, and caught him after firing several shots; it is not confirmed that he returned fire or not.point 227 |

“I would call it a Christmas miracle,” said Shea. He was discharged from the hospital on Friday morning so he could spend the Christmas holiday with his family. During a press conference on Friday, Mayor de Blasio said the girl is alive right now because the NYPD officers reached to rescue her timely.
According to the authorities, Moss has no criminal arrest record except for marijuana use. In October 2020, a domestic violence report was filed, but in that case, Moss was the victim.
