A Fox5 news anchor has issued an apology on live tv after she was found drunk and passed out in her car last month.
Feven Kay, also known as Fevan Kiflegiorgis, was arrested on March 20 at around 7.30 am.
Kay, from Las Vegas, was found naked sleeping in her car, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
According to the police, Kay’s car was discovered in a travel lane and the news anchor told the police she had no idea how she got to Matthew Avenue.
Kay was found and smelled of alcohol, but declined to test.
The news anchor addressed her DUI arrest in front of the camera for the Las Vegas station.
“I want to take this time to be transparent,” Kay said recently on Fox 5 News. “Last month, I was arrested by Metro for driving under the influence.”
“At the time of the arrest I was inside of a parked vehicle in a Las Vegas neighborhood alone,” Kay said. “That charge has since been reduced to misdemeanor reckless driving for which I will pay a fine and take classes.”
Kay was sentenced this week and was handed a $1000 fine and will go to driving school, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
During Kay’s comeback on TV, the anchor said that she wanted her audience to know she had learned from the incident and thanked her supporters.
After the broadcast, some people on social media said they were pleased to see Kay on their TV again.
“It is FANTASTIC to see you back!” a person tweeted.
“So happy to see my friend @Feven_Kay back on-air,” another person said.
