Police reported two dead bodies dumped in the backyard of a building in the Bronx.
The incident was reported on Monday afternoon, November 9. The dead bodies were of two newly born boys and were wrapped in brown paper. The apartment superintendent discovered the dead bodies at 1:45 pm at 460 College Avenue; he immediately called the police.
The infants, according to the sources, were about a week old. One of the babies had a puncture wound, which probably occurred during birth. The other baby had a blue string tied around his neck; he also had a head injury. Authorities said it looks as the babies were thrown from a window of the apartment.
Investigators said they had sealed the building for investigation and surveillance footage. The residents of the apartment said they had no idea about the parents of the children. A 32-year-old guy, Osvaldo Volquez, called 911 to report the dreadful incident. He said one of the babies was curled up in a position like that of a fetus in the womb.
“The baby was grown up, and I could see his hands and feet.
He seems to weigh about 3-4 pounds,” said the resident of the building. He further said that the child didn’t show any movement when he found him and was dead when he reached.
“I can’t think someone to be this heartless. I don’t know how anyone can commit a crime like this. ” He added.Blood splashes can be seen at the crime scene. The residents of the apartment said they had no access to the back patio area. A 19-year-old girl who lives in the building told the police that residents don’t go to that area. She also said, “This a gruesome murder. The apartment has almost 40 units, and we all know each other. I haven’t noticed any woman in the building who looks pregnant”.
All the residents of the building and other citizens condemned the incident and expressed their sorrow. “This is extremely inhumane. If they don’t want kids, they should have given up to those who want..” said a 52-year-old woman who lived nearby.
Timothy McCormack, the Deputy Chief NYPD, seeks the public help to solve the case.
