People gathered in large numbers to protest against the new lockdown policy on Sunday.
The angry citizens marched through the streets of Manhattan, California, New York, and Minnesota. They burned their masks and carried play cards that read, “Stop Covid Tyranny” and “Freedom over fear.” The second wave of corona had hit so many states in the world. The USA has also experienced a spike in covid-19 cases and skyrocketing hospitalizations since last month. The government thus issued an order for a second lockdown.
A 2.74% increase in corona cases was recorded on Sunday, and the hospitalizations reached 2562. Governor Andrew reported to the media that the death count rose to 19537 on November 22. The sudden increase in positive cases has sparked a lockdown in so many world regions, including NYC.
The protestors were angry at the government’s decision and refused to accept it.
Thousands gathered in Washington Square Park and declared that they want no lockdown in NYC.The demonstrators discouraged those who were wearing masks and burnt them to express their frustration.
The public is not ready for another lockdown and demands medical freedom.Demonstrators marched to the residence of Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and said they’re fed up with all this drama. One of the protestors said, “Were done with this tyranny and now want our lives back to normal.”
The New York administration decided to shut down on-campus educational activities after the positivity rate surpassed 3%.
The decision was criticized, and the government was taunted to have double standards as there was no restriction on the opening of bars and restaurants.
The concerning uptick in corona patients leads the government to issue closure of bars, restaurants, and fitness centers.The one-month curfew bound people to stay indoors from 10 pm-5 am unless there is an emergency. Microbiologists believe that the individuals tested positive but having no symptoms can also spread the virus.
