Archaeologists in the Czech Republic claim to make a breakthrough discovery after finding a nail from Christ’s crucifixion.
According to media sources, the explorers discovered a secret chamber, beneath a monastery. And that’s where they allegedly saw an old wooden box, adorned with a golden pleated covering.
The priceless discovery took place at the famous Milevsko monastery, where the giant 6-inch long nail lay, alongside a golden-hued 21 karat cross.
Sources went on confirming how the box’s creation was most likely between 260 and 416AD.
It came with the initials IR inscribed upon it, which literally translates as ‘Jesus is King. ’Experts claim that the hidden treasure room was once used to hide rare artifacts that were collected from Hussite’s troop raids, during the early 15th century.
Meanwhile, researchers present at the scene say that they can’t really confirm whether or not the nail came from the holy ‘True Cross.
’ However, they also mention that the mega discovery is ‘superior’ that the famous St.Maurus reliquary.
This piece of news was confirmed by the Czech News Agency. As far as the Maurus reliquary is concerned, it is a giant box made of gold, that carries fragments from the bodies of 3 saints. They include Saint John the Baptist, Saint Timothy, and Saint Maurus.
On the other hand, scientists are still skeptical about the recent findings.
And that’s because there are plenty of nail related discoveries from the past.In the same way, they were also linked to the holy event of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.
For this reason, one researcher explains that it’s too soon to speak on the matter. The nail’s exact authenticity will take place via a series of verification procedures, sometime next year.
Archaeologists are involved in the Milevsko monastery for several months now, where they are working currently. And that’s when they stumbled upon the secret passage gateway. Ultimately, that led to the treasury room’s discovery.
