A mum from California will face prosecution after giving birth to a stillborn due to high meth levels.

According to media sources, she intentionally made use of toxic meth during the final stages of her pregnancy. And in the end, that resulted in the death of her fetus. Now, the state’s top court refuses to toss her case and that means she will need to face prosecution.

Police arrested 26-year-old Chelsea Becker for murder in September 2019. And that’s when reports of her heinous crimes reached the headlines. Chelsea delivered a stillborn baby. When investigations related to the incident began, officials found alarming levels of methamphetamine in the dead infant’s system.

Meanwhile, news speculated on how California’s state attorney general, Xavier Becerra, tried his level best in putting a halt to Chelsea’s criminal case. It seemed as if he wanted an intentional delay as reported by The San Francisco Chronicle.

In addition, Becerra’s office did its level best at trying to convince the courts that Chelsea’s case had the potential of preventing other young pregnant women, who struggled with drug problems, from getting help. Just like that, he mentioned how it could spark an increase in law enforcement attention towards stillbirths as well as miscarriages.

Recently, California’s State Supreme Court rejected all of Becerra’s challenges. Christine, although pleading not guilty, is currently on hold with a $2 million bail attached. With a series of rumors regarding the courts wrangling over her case, now it seems that there’s no way out.

California’s supreme court announced the abrupt stopping of any forms of declination related to her case.

The 26-year-old admitted to meth abuse while entering her last trimester of pregnancy. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s supporters are plenty. And they continue to raise their voice on how substance abuse is actually a medical condition and not a crime. For this reason, it should be treated likewise.
