A mother from France is going viral after she was accused of sexually abusing her children for practicing breastfeeding for so long.
36-year-old Gaelle Meheut from Port-Vila explains how she was breastfed till she was only 3 months old. However, when she became pregnant with her first child, who is now 5 years old, she had zero intentions to breastfeed him for such a long time.
The mother says that before she even had children, she never thought about the idea of breastfeeding her kids for so long. In fact, she didn’t think she would breastfeed them at all.
In the nation of France, most women usually breastfeed their kids till 17 weeks. After that, the kids are put on bottle feed. Gaelle explained how she initially thought about only bottle feed for her kids so she could share precious moments with them too. However, little did she know that she would soon be on her way to breastfeeding galore.
For her, the process came very naturally during the birth of her kids.point 176 | “I didn’t even have any formula milk at the hospital in stock so I was lucky,” explained the French mum.point 279 |
She added how the midwife whispered to how many French people found it strange and shocking how anyone could possibly breastfeed their kids after the age of four.point 135 | 1
But once she started, Gaelle says she found out about its great benefits too. And for her, that was a bigger motivation to continue her breastfeeding journey. Now, she boldly mentions how she doesn’t really have any real plans of stopping as she didn’t have in the past.
Gaelle also has a 3-year-old daughter named Maia who is also breastfed. As a whole, Gaelle has been in the breastfeeding league for the past 5 years and 3 months. Moreover, she even practices the art of tandem feeding with her kids to mix things up a bit.
In addition, she claims that it’s something she wishes to do because it’s economical, practical, healthy, and empowering. For her, it’s more about strengthening the sibling bond between her kids. While she tries to avoid all the negativity that surrounds her, it surely gets hard sometimes, she explains.
