A mum who was jailed for planning an arson attack with her husband celebrated her first Christmas free.
Mairead Philpott, 39, was sentenced to 17 years in prison but was released last month after serving half of her sentence. In April 2013, Mairead and her husband Mick were sent to jail for an arson plot that killed their six kids at their residence in Osmaston, Derbyshire. She was sent to HMP Send in Surrey but has now been transferred to live for 12 weeks in a bail hostel in South England.
The killer mum spent this year’s Christmas as a free mum, singing karaoke, snacking on free chocolates, donating food and gifts, playing bingo, and enjoying Christmas dinner.
The husband and wife were the most hated people of 2013 and were bashed for plotting an arson attack on their home while the six kids were sleeping.
The couple failed to admit the crime initially and cried during press conferences and TV interviews.According to the sources, Mairead will be given a new identity, and she will start a new life after getting counseling from mental health experts.
The six kids who died during the sad incident are; Jayden, 5, Jesse, 6, Jack, 8, John, 9, Jade, 10, and Duwayne,13.
Except for Duwayne, who died three days later in a hospital bed, all others died in the fire. The judge said Mairead’s grief of losing her children seemed real, but it is not understandable why she helped her husband in the evil plan. The police found petrol on her clothes, which proves that she participated in setting the fire. She refused to accept her crime and continued to lie throughout the trial.
Now when the woman has been released, people are not happy about the decision.
The MP for the Mid Derbyshire Pauline Latham said that the six poor children are lying in their graves, and this evil mum has her liberty.Disgusting! She also questioned the time Mairead was asked to spend in prison and said, “Only Eight and a half years in prison for killing six innocent kids? How could this be fair?”
“These lawmakers need to think twice before making such decisions. It looks as they don’t value the life of victims,” she added. The MP also said that she would make sure that Mairead does not return to the area.
