Melania Trump’s former friend and adviser said that the First Lady must be held accountable for her “silence and inaction” during Wednesday’s riot at the US Capitol.
In an op-ed entitled “There’s Blood on Her Hands”, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff writes that she is “ashamed” to have worked for Melania.
“I can’t believe how blind I was to the depth of her deception and lack of common decency,” she wrote.
“I wish I could say I was shocked by President Trump’s actions, but sadly I can not, or say I don’t comprehend Melania’s silence and inactions, but pathetically, they are both expected.”
“Unfortunately, our president and first lady have little, if any, regard for either human life or our great democracy,” she added.
She also claimed that Melania has “no sympathy or remorse,” and shared how she was not surprised about the latter’s inaction about the Capitol riots.
“Also, at this moment, when children are asking their parents why people destroyed our Capitol, what will be her answer?” Winston Wolkoff quizzed.
“Will she tell the truth, which is, Trump lit the match that sparked the rioting and decimation. He, his children, and personal lawyer incited violence and told people to riot.”
Winston Wolkoff, who worked as an unpaid aide for the First Lady was ousted from the East Wing in February 2018, and said she “gave up everything” for her friend Melania.
The First Lady had also previously branded Winston Wolkoff “dishonest”, claims she “hardly knew me”, and describes her former longtime friend as “someone who clung to me after my husband won the presidency.”
“This is a woman who secretly recorded our phone calls, releasing portions from me that were out of context, then wrote a book of idle gossip trying to distort my character,” Melania wrote.
“These kinds of people only care about their personal agenda – not about helping others.”
