The medical examiner from Maryland who testified in the Derek Chauvin trial and claimed the ex-cop did not kill George Floyd will now have his death reports reviewed.
Dr. David Fowler’s testimony shook the nation as it was vastly different from all the others and didn’t go in line with many people’s opinions. Now that the verdict for the Derek Chauvin trial is out with the former cop being guilty of all his counts, it makes absolute sense as to why this is happening with the medical examiner.
Moreover, Dr. David’s testimony also raised plenty of suspicion in the world of medicine too. And for all of these reasons, he will have 17 years of medical reports reviewed, confirmed by local media outlets.
Currently, Maryland’s Attorney General Brian Frosh mentioned recently how he is in talks with the state’s governor to allow the complete renewal of all the in-custody reports relating to death that took place during the medical examiner’s tenure.
This review comes just one day after a letter was received from a former examiner from Washington DC who raised plenty of concerns regarding Fowler’s testimony.
Speaking to Baltimore Sun recently, Folwer mentioned how he was simply not aware of any form of review, however, he did go on defending all of his office’s work, confirmed reports.
Dr. David testified during the high-profile murder trial of George Floyd how his death actually occurred due to some form of underlying heart conditions. Therefore, he contradicted all the other experts who mentioned how George Floyd passed away from a severe lack of oxygen.
In addition, the doctor raised eyebrows when he termed an irregular heart rhythm to be the primary cause of death. At the same time, he also went on about how George Floyd’s drug use as well as exposure to carbon monoxide from the exhaust fumes of the police vehicle may have also contributed to his death.
