A man was sent to jail for three years for sexual offenses involving animals, as well as possessing images of sex abuse involving children.
The offenses where discovered when the National Crime Agency raided the home of Rehan Baig in July 2019 after a tip-off.
“The premises were searched. A large number of exhibits were seized including two computer towers and a mobile telephone,” said Prosecutor Abigail Langford.
“Those devices were interrogated and a number of indecent images of children were found.”
“Also located among the devices interrogated were moving images showing the defendant engaging in penetrative sexual intercourse with a number of chickens,” she added.
Judge Richard Mansell QC of the Bradford Crown Court branded Baig’s actions as “depraved, perverted and despicable,” while noting that any right-thinking person would be “sick to their stomach.”
Described as manipulating and controlling, Baig stored “homemade” films under the folder named “family vids”, including videos of him having an intercourse with a number of different chickens.
His wife, Haleema Baig, initially claimed that the animals were their “family pets” but the police found no live chickens at the premises.
Earlier this year, Baig pleaded guilty to a series of offenses, which includes having sexual intercourse with an animal, downloading indecent images and movies involving children, possession of extreme pornographic images including bestiality and possession of cocaine and cannabis.
In addition to a three-year jail sentence, Baig will be registered as a sex offender for life, will have to comply with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, and banned to keep any animal for life.
“You’re not fit to bring up or look after any animal after what you’ve done,” the judge said to him.
Meanwhile, his wife was given a six-month suspended sentence for admitting guilt for three counts of aiding and abetting offenses involving an animal.
Although Haleema admitted to filming her husband and making “sexual encouraging remarks” on the video, she defended that she was in a “coercive relationship” with him at the time.
