A woman is fighting for her life after her lover allegedly beat her and killed her two children.
30-year-old Vasil Tsekh has been charged with double murder after the horrific attack, when Lyudmila Strelchuk, 35, took her kids, Martina, 9, and Demid, 2, to introduce them to their new “stepdad”.
The police said Tsekh used a broken chair to attack the two children, and threw them against a wall at a restaurant and sauna complex Oksana in Tyachiv in Ukraine.
The sauna manager had to call the police after hearing the commotion, opening the door, and seeing the bloodied victims.
Strelchuck’s children died at the scene, and she was rushed to the hospital after suffering from severe injuries.
She had already regained her consciousness and told doctors that she must recover to “care for the children”, but she was not told about their demise.
Tsekh, whom Strelchuk met on an online dating site, fled the scene but was later caught by the police.
According to Strelchuk’s relatives, Tsekh appeared to be “normal’ when they met him, and did not drink much before the horrific incident.
His parents expressed their “shock” upon learning about the death of the children.
Martina was born in Italy, where her mother lived and worked at the time as she had separated from her daughter’s father.
Demid was conceived from another failed relationship, and was born in Ukraine after the mother returned to her homeland.
The boy’s father is at the hospital to comfort Strelchuk, and the children were buried in her home city, Kamianets-Podilskyi.
