British pop star Lily Allen commented a crying-with-laughter emoji at a meme which shows that Princess Diana is furious about Prince Philip entering heaven.
Instagram account @sainthoax shared the meme and used a clip from Super Nanny and shows Jo Frost closing the door on a crying toddler.
The video was captioned: “Princess Diana when Philip tries to enter heaven.”
Lily Allen commented on the post by saying: “I’m dead at the Diana one ?”.
The singer was heavily criticized for her comment with some calling out her ‘vile’ behavior in response to Prince Philip’s death.
This has caught the pop star’s attention and later on tweeted calling out ‘trolls and bots’.
“Oh, Prince Philip has died,” Allen tweeted as a response. “Lots of trolls and bots out tonight.”
“#RIP Prince Phillip you would have loved late-stage surveillance capitalism.”
Despite the singer’s reaction, not all commenters were happy with many calling out the tweet for being offensive.
“Do you really think this is appropriate?” a user replied. “Have some respect.”
“Wow, there is so much hate in these comments,” a user commented. “Someone died, it is not funny.”
“I hope you understand that this is not a good way to find humor,” one person said.
“This is clearly not okay and I’m tired of these platforms failing to draw the line between comedy, satire, and plain, vile behavior,” another person commented.
Meanwhile, @sainthoax’s Instagram post also attracted fiery criticisms from commenters. The page has received more than 3,500 comments in the six hours since it has been shared.
