Her mother described the diagnoses as “a long, messy one.” The tumor was shaped like an American football. Testing showed that it was located on Lula Beth’s left kidney.

However, after 22 weeks of chemotherapy, the four-year-old has made a tremendous recovery. Her family gave an interview with Good Morning America. Bowden’s mother, a professional photographer, voiced her relief.

“We never expected this news to happen to us. It’s always sad, heartbreaking stories of others that you see, until it happens to you. Little Lula Beth has been a champ throughout the whole journey.”

Bowden elaborated on how her family got closer during such a trying time. To celebrate her remission, Bowden had Lula hold a sign labeled “It came. We fought. I won.”

Bowden proudly photographed her daughter in a bright orange dress and said, “I have tried to document this season in our lives so we could look back on it forever. It’s been a very emotional time for us.”

According to Bowden, Lula Beth’s recovery journey was both strenuous and taxing. Lula had to undergo surgery to remove the massive tumor. Doctors also had to remove the kidney. The surgery was followed by 13 rounds of chemotherapy treatments, which spanned 22 weeks.

However, despite her hair falling off after the 11th round of chemo, Lula Beth stayed strong during her treatment. Bowden recounted, “She has not complained once and graciously completed her course.”

Bowden even complimented her son, Lula’s older brother, for his behavior throughout the difficult year. She said he would watch his sister protectively and help her with different things.
