Rap music sensation, Kanye West, faces a $1 million lawsuit as live opera sue for unpaid wages.
The 43-year-old musician faces accusations reading failure to pay the minimum wage as well as overtime dues. Shockingly, this is from Kanye’s own opera house, who he debuted at last year’s Hollywood Bowl.
Meanwhile, The Blast reported how a hair assistant that worked on Kanye’s opera didn’t receive a staggering amount of due.
This includes continuing wages, attorney fees, unpaid wages, and civil penalties too. At the same time, the assistant accuses the rapper of paying per day rates late, alongside other fees. Moreover, she was slapped with charges for getting her checks too.
The famed site went on to speculate how the opera workers seek around 1 million dollars in what they think are issues regarding their poor treatment.
Documents filed go as far as claiming how defendants controlled productions with employees working long hours for the production. Still, they never got the pay that they were promised. Some weren’t even paid at all!
While Kanye and his team of representatives aren’t giving any word on the matter yet, it’s a rather shocking claim that has many viewing the star’s next move closely. Some reports claim that the celeb may have a lot on his mind. And that’s ever since his hopes for running in the elections died down.
In August this year, a company went as far as filing a giant lawsuit for the failure of clearing dues.
MyChannel Inc stated in the lawsuit how Kanye hired plenty of employees on board to work relentlessly for Yeezy. This includes his famous Sunday Service shows too. He even promised to invest millions in the actual company but never chose to look back.
After a mere six months, he walked away without paying, despite stealing away some technology for use in his Sunday performances. Meanwhile, the company feels West only got into the agreement in the first place so that he could boost sales for Yeezy. Yikes, the star seems to be in plenty of hot waters with all these lawsuits.
