The lead investigator in the Derek Chauvin trial is making heads turn after completely reversing his testimony.
Eric Nelson, the defense attorney played the famous clip to the court where one of the officer’s body cameras footage picked up on something interesting from the day George Floyd passed away. Moreover, Nelson claimed that the audio was very disturbed so that is what led to a mix-up in the testimony of a leading investigator, resulting in the midst of chaos.
At first, the lead investigator mentioned how Floyd informed him that he ate too many drugs. But later, he clarified the air by stating how he heard him say something that was the exact opposite of that, “I ain’t doing no drugs.”
After the defense attorney played the famous clip to the courtroom recently, he showed the jurors an image of Derek Chauvin that was taken on the same night of the incident. On that particular night, Chauvin weighed in at just about 140lbs, which is about 100lbs less than George Floyd himself.
Derek Chauvin is the 45-year-old who has been accused of killing George Floyd after he deliberately pressed against his neck by pinning him down and using his knee for a span of nearly 9 minutes. While he did plead not guilty previously with claims that he was only doing his duty, the trial continues to take on unique twists and turns.
The investigator thought George Floyd mentioned to officers how he ate too many drugs as he lay flat on the ground, explained Derek Chauvin’s defense attorney on Wednesday.point 265 |
But when he played the clip to the court again, he asked an expert if he could make out what was being said in the audio.point 96 | And that’s when the expert said no, he couldn’t.point 148 | 1
The investigator also spoke about how he found certain moments where Derek Chauvin appeared to increase the intensity of pain on Floyd too.
