US congresswoman Ilhan Omar is in the line of fire again after making a series of bold remarks about the recent Boulder massacre.
The Rep tweeted some controversial remarks on Tuesday where she spoke about how the gunman’s race or ethnicity becomes the center of attention when the attacker is not white.
The news comes as many on social media initially believed how the gunman who was responsible for carrying out the Boulder massacre that left around 10 people dead, was initially white. Soon, however, news reports began coming in about how the attacker who killed 10 people was in fact of Syrian origin.
He was identified as Ahmad al Aliwi Alissa and was recently charged with 10 counts of murder for the brutal incident.
Meanwhile, critics went ahead and slammed Omar, while referencing her for one of her tweets that took place around a week ago. This is where she spoke about how the Atlanta shooting was carried out by a white individual.
Most of the backlash that she received came from an array of conservatives who felt that the congresswoman should actually practice what she preaches and take her own advice.
The appalling news comes right after another controversial tweet was deleted by Kamala Harris’s niece, Meena, who was severely criticized for assuming that the gunman was of white origin because he entered into police custody ‘alive.’
The Minnesota congresswoman also went on to add how race plays an integral role when ‘they aren’t white.’ Therefore, on other occasions, it’s just a mentally ill and young individual that has a bad day, she explained.
Omar also shed light on how narratives are responsible for driving responses to the most awful crimes committed against all innocent individuals. Therefore, she boldly mentioned how it’s important to pay close attention to the responses generated and the target at hand.
