A furious mother is going viral after stating how loved ones are not allowed to hug her baby daughter.
According to the mother, the practice of consent matters so much to her and that’s why she teaches her one-year-old child about its importance. And now, she explains how it angers her so much that loved ones and the child’s grandparents are no longer allowed to hug her child without obtaining the little one’s consent.
Brittany Baxter from Australia shared her thoughts through her TikTok account why it bothers her so much that loved ones fail to understand her simple wish relating to her daughter’s consent. Moreover, she is slamming all the adults who deny toddlers their rights of consent by forcing upon them ‘guilty tripping cuddles.’
The mother also went on to add how she has taught her daughter the concept of consent since the day she was born.
“I find it awfully unhelpful when adults fail to understand that my daughter doesn’t want a kiss or when a cuddle is invalid. Still, they try to force the affection upon her anyway,” the furious mum added.
“My daughter’s body simply doesn’t exist to make anyone more comfortable and isn’t here to make people feel more loved,” she explained.
But that’s not the only thing that raised so many people’s eyebrows. The mum explained how many individuals get so dumbfounded whenever she goes out of her way to explain how they need to ask her daughter for consent before they can lean in for a hug or a kiss from her.
“When my daughter says no, they feel like she doesn’t love them and then they attempt to overstep all of her boundaries anyways.”
According to the mother, the older generation needs to learn how to control their emotions whenever someone says no to them.
